The Polishing Shop (77 names)

From what I remember of the Polishing shop, they stained and polished all of the interior mouldings for the Passenger stock. Some of it was done in their workshop, but they also went out and polished on the line.  The shop actually came under the Vehicle Builders and from what I think it was a "Womens Only" shop (not meant to be sexist).  I have to say, that I was amazed that the amount of names which have been supplied, via Brian Lisher, from Jean Potter (who I remember) and Mrs Salisbury, so many thanks to them all.

Mrs Vince

Looking at your web site, and the polishing shop, particularly I was pleased to see Mrs Vince mentioned- my Mother.
I remember coming down from Winchester where we lived to meet her. She was fairly famous in the works for her cakes she made for the ‘Fur and feather’ events that were held.
I understood she also polished the desk for one Dr Beeching.
As well as working on the display carriages for the Festival of Britain - Robert Vince added 6/9/09
